Kiddy Winks

Ofsted Registered Childminding Service

Welcome to my website

My name is Carol Hume and I am an Ofsted registered childminder in Feering nr Colchester Essex.

I provide professional childcare in my own family home.

I have been childminding since 1999, I hold the Nursery Nurse Education Board (NNEB) qualification and have been caring for children on a ‘sole charge’ basis since 1993 and over the years have gained a wealth of experience caring for children. I was also an assistant guider of a local Rainbow unit for 5 years until January 2005.

I have three children born 1996, 1998, 2005 and a step-daughter born 1990. All my children are used to being with minded children and enjoy their company.

I am registered for no more than 6 children under 8 years; of these, not more than 3 may be under 5 years, and of these, not more than 1 may be under 1 year at any one time and when working with my assistant may care for no more than 6 children under 8 years; of these, not more than 5 may be under 5 years, and of these, not more than 2 may be under 1 year at any one time.

My latest Ofsted report awarded me an overall ‘Good’ with Outstanding for Protecting children from harm or neglect and helping them stay safe and it acknowledged that;

1.      Excellent resources are available for children that positively reflect culture, religion and disability.

2.      Children have access to a stimulating range of high quality toys and equipment that meet safety standards.

3.      They (the children) are developing in confidence and self-esteem through their close relationships with the childminder who is very intuitive of their needs.

My charges are competitive and comparable to childminders working locally. I normally take just four weeks annual holiday per year, which means that my service is usually available to you for 48 weeks. Your child will benefit from having a female parental role model in a clean, safe, happy, family orientated environment.

I work with my husband, David; he is registered as my full time assistant, which means that he is able to look after children for short times i.e. collecting children from school, playgroup, or staying at home while I collect from playgroup etc.

I live very close to a local park, but also have a large garden. Should you decide to employ my services as a childminder I will endeavour to put your child’s needs first and to provide you with the peace of mind that you need to enable you to carry out your daily responsibilities at work; safe in the knowledge that he/she is being properly cared for in a happy family atmosphere.

I am also a member of the North West Essex, Children Come First, Childminding Network.

Thank you for visiting.
